Gutless Kayaking

We’ve had great news in the last week or so: we now have not one but two support vessels for the trip! Having appealed to the National Association of Boat Owners (NABO) for help, their general secretary, Richard Carpenter, has volunteered his own boat, Elysium, as a support vessel. Furthermore, Richard approached the National Community Boat Association who, through their connection with Dream Achievers, will provide an additional boat and crew.

This means that Justin and the other kayakers will now have overnight accommodation for the entire trip. The previous, not universally popular, plan had been to camp in tents every night. And, more importantly, Justin will now have a safe and sterile environment in which to carry out his medical procedures.

Justin said: “The voluntary support we are receiving from the canal community is so overwhelming, it will really help us get the right rest and backup to complete our aims!”
